Kupang, E.Nusa Tenggara (Antara NTT) - The National Electricity Company, PT PLN, for East Nusa Tenggara Region has power to reach 120 megawatt (MW) to support investment growth on Timor Island, PT PLN East Nusa Tenggara`s Commercial Manager Andhoko Soeyono said here on Wednesday.

He added such amount of power ensures PLN to meet the electricity needs, especially those who want to invest in Timor Island that includes Kupang city and some districts of Kupang, North Timor Tengah, South Timor Tengah, Malaka, and Belu.

The electricity system in Timor Island is supported through a number of power plants such as steam power plant Bolok IPP of 16.5 x 2 mw (megawatt), Bolok Steam Power Plant of 14 MW, Power Ship of 60 MW, Oelpuah Solar Power Plant of 5 MW, Diesel Power Plant of Tenau & Kuanino of 6.4 MW, Soe Diesel Power Plant of 0.52, Diesel Power Plant of Kefamenanu of 1.4 MW, and Atambua power plan with a capacity of 5.5 MW.

Andhoko hoped that the excess power prepared by PLN for Timor Island system would attract potential investors to develop businesses on the island.
