Kupang (Antara NTT) - The Kupang branch of state-owned shipping company PT. Pelni, in East Nusa Tengara, begins to adopt the one stop service in the payment of good transport cost at the office of Pelni to minimize illegal levies on pioneer ships at the port of Tenau Kupang in the city.

"We have arranged the payment system at the port for cargo transport using pioneer ships. The payment process is transparent with receipts," head of the Kupang branch of PT. Pelni Ishak Gerard Adrian told Antara here on Tuesday.

Ishak made the statement in comment about the arrest of 11 employees of PT. Pelni of Kupang by a special police team for alleged illegal levies last week.

He said payment system for cost of cargo transport by pioneer ships has been well arranged to make it simple for the service users in East Nusa Tenggara.

"The service users know clearly how much they have to pay for the transport and for the loading an unloading of their goods. Everything is transparent," he said.

He said the cargo transport cost for pioneer ships is set based on the ministerial regulation No.86 of 2002.

"Other levies are illegal and who ever charges levies other than set in the regulation will risk punishment. I will take firm measure against employees involved in illegal levies," he said.

He said the chief executive of PT. Pelni deeply regrets the incident involving the 11 employees of PT.Pelni Kupang by the NTT police especially as it happened when the company began to adopt the one stop service.

"The chief executive of PT. Pelni said that he hopes the incident would serve a lesson for other employees," he said.
