Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut B Pandjaitan

The Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs will build a special loading and unloading quay in Larantuka to support the sea toll program which is one of the main government`s programs.
Kupang (Antara NTT) - The Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs will build a special loading and unloading quay in Larantuka to support the sea toll program which is one of the main government`s programs.

"The location is in Wello and we will provide the budget for it," Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut B Pandjaitan, said while visiting Larantuka City, East Flores District, East Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday.

Earlier, on Monday (Oct 30) Luhut visited Kupang and the vicinity areas to monitor the salt factory in Bipolo Village and the development of Raknamo dam construction in Raknamo Willage, Kupang District.

The minister said the government would not only build a loading and unloading quay but would also ask Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi to extend the runway of Gawayang Tanah airport to 500 meters.

The construction of the airport runway will help tuna export from East Nusa Tenggara to Japan, he added.

"The development of the sea and air sectors is very important because it supports the local economy," he said, hoping that he can conduct a groundbreaking of the dock construction in March 2018 along with salt harvest in Kupang.

Luhut also stated that the Coordinating Ministry will coordinate with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to recalculate the cost of sea current power plant project which will be developed in East Flores District.

"I will discuss with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to make the design of power plant simpler to reduce the cost," the minister said.
