The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) will soon establish an air security post at the border with neighboring Timor Leste in Atambua, Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara.
Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (Antara) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) will soon establish an air security post at the border with neighboring Timor Leste in Atambua, Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara.

El Tari Military Air Base Commander Colonel Arief Hartono remarked here on Friday that the air security post will be established this year in the border area of Atambua.

"We choose to establish the air security post in Atambua, as the area is bordering with Timor Leste," Hartono noted, adding that all TNI AU personnel and supporting facilities are ready to be mobilized to carry out air security activities in Atambua.

He said the TNI AU has prioritized to offer security in the border area in Belu District, as it shares its boundaries with foreign countries.

Hartono, who assumed the post of TNI AU commander of El Tari in Kupang three weeks ago, remarked that the Indonesian Air Force was always aware of the security conditions of the airspace in the island-based province.

"We will work hard to keep this area safe, so that the people of East Nusa Tenggara can get sound sleep," he stated. He said that the East Nusa Tenggara region is always under the supervision of Buraen 226 Radar that can detect the movement of aircraft as far as 550 kilometers.
