Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has urged stakeholders in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, included in five Super Priority Tourism Destinations, to implement sustainable resilience in the tourism sector for facing future disaster risks.
"The concept of sustainable resilience in the tourism sector is the focus of the Indonesian government for dealing with future disaster risks," Uno said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
He also conveyed President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) message regarding the offer from the government to the global level about the concept of sustainable resilience as a solution to address systemic risk challenges in facing all forms of disasters, including dealing with pandemics while simultaneously supporting the implementation of sustainable development.
The minister urged tourism and creative economy stakeholders to innovate in various creative economy products, as an example of Indonesia's readiness to welcome the new economic order.
"Innovative creative economy products can show Indonesia's ability as an important role in the global economic recovery that prioritizes the concept of sustainability to encourage economic revival, create jobs, and open business opportunities," he said.
Meanwhile, the ministry's acting deputy for destination development and infrastructure, Frans Teguh, explained that one of the focus points of tourism development is efforts to mobilize stakeholders to accelerate the development of priority tourism destinations.
The development of destinations must be conducted without boundaries of interests, which are summarized in a framework for managing destinations, including destination management, destination governance, and leadership to improve the destination's reputation, he elaborated.
Teguh assessed that the management of tourism development must be precisely arranged so as to maintain the environment around tourist destinations, including reducing the social impacts.
“Tourism nowadays is everyone's business, and we can no longer work alone. We have to work together with various parties," he remarked.
