Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Labuan Flores Authority Implementing Agency (BPOLBF) revealed it will increase tourism activities in 2024 to boost tourist visits in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.
"We will add more national and international events every month to support more tourist visits to Labuan Bajo," BPOLBF President Director Shana Fatina stated here on Wednesday.
The number of tourist visits to Labuan Bajo is targeted to reach one million by 2024, she remarked.
Fatina noted that in 2024, her side will focus on events that can diversify tourism products.
Meanwhile, to boost tourism in Parapuar, the BPOLBF will cooperate with several partners to upgrade facilities, attractions, and accommodations as well as other infrastructure.
Until early December of 2023, the number of tourists only reached around 800 thousand.
Fatina said, various national events will be held during the low season to attract more tourists.
In addition to holding national events every month, it also targets direct flights from Australia and Singapore.
"This is one of the efforts to handle the low season in Labuan Bajo," she remarked.
The BPOLBF is exploring cooperation with three airlines, including AirAsia, to open flight routes from Bali to Kupang and vice versa to increase tourist visits to the area.
"The three airlines are AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur, then Scoot from Singapore, and Jetstar from Australia," she noted.

Fatina also spoke of having coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation regarding the interests of the three airlines to support tourist visits to Labuan Bajo.

Meanwhile, the East Nusa Tenggara provincial government has targeted two million tourists to visit the archipelago-based province in 2024, up from the 2023 target of 1.2 million tourists.
