Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is a success story of a country united by tolerance and harmony among the diverse community groups and faiths, according to Foreign Ministry's Advisor to the Minister for Priority Programs Dian Triansyah Djani.

"Indonesia, with its immense diversity of religions and culture, provides a living example of a nation where religious communities and ethnic groups can live side by side in peace and harmony," Djani stated here on Thursday (July 11).

While closing Leimena Institute's "International Conference on Cross-Cultural Religious Literacy," he stated that Indonesia could be such a big country by maintaining tolerance, national unity, and societal cohesion.

Indonesia also fosters its cross-culture religious literacy and multifaith collaboration among its communities, he affirmed.

Hence, Indonesia will strive to promote such values, including the "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" (Unity in diversity) principle, on its diplomacy to the ASEAN or the global stage.

"Unity in diversity is proven to be a principle that binds us together in ASEAN," he emphasized.

Djani stated that promoting religious tolerance globally is one of Indonesia's top priorities, primarily during the country's membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) until 2026.

The ministry's official stated that Indonesia has proven its commitment to advancing religious tolerance on the global stage, such as by supporting UNHRC Resolution No. 16/18 on combating intolerance and violence against persons based on religion or belief and UNHRC Resolution No. 53/1 on countering religious hatred.

Indonesia also carried out its initiative to organize a panel discussion on interfaith cooperation, conflict resolution, and positive social change on the sidelines of the 55th session of the Human Rights Council last March.

"Hence, we send a key message to the global audience on meaningful contribution to interfaith cooperation in manifesting human rights, peace, and development," he remarked.
