Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial governments sealed an agreement to submit a joint bid to host the future 2028 PON National Games.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the joint host bid was signed by NTB Deputy Governor Sitti Rohmi Djalilah and NTT Governor Viktor Laiskodat and observed by the chairperson of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) and legislator of regional parliaments of the two provinces in Kupang, NTT, on Thursday (Feb 10)
"West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara are ready to host the PON games. We affirm our readiness to be a solid and firm team," Djalilah noted in her official statement in Mataram, NTB, on Friday.
Speaking in connection with the decision to submit a joint bid, Djalilah expressed optimism over the provinces being elected as the 2028 PON Games hosts, as they harbor the same dream and firm solidarit.
The mandate to host the games will require significant efforts and synergy from all stakeholders, Djalilah remarked while appealing to residents of the two neighboring provinces to pray and maintain solidarity to achieve the 2028 PON National Games' host status.
"We devote our efforts to the progress of our region and our beloved nation," Djalilah remarked.
Meanwhile, Laiskodat also affirmed his readiness to cooperate with his NTB counterpart to collaborate in realizing the common dream to host the 2028 PON Games.
"East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara are part of Indonesia. We are ready to be a good host and welcome the 2028 PON National Games at Nusa Tenggara," Laiskodat affirmed.
