Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), is preparing tactical steps for accommodating residents affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"We are preparing several tactical steps after the emergency response period ends. We want to ensure that people affected by disasters anywhere immediately receive assistance and direct assistance from the government," he expounded on Wednesday.
According to him, people who have lost their homes and other materials due to the eruption must be offered a solution without delay.
"Those who lost their homes must be given immediate solution by the government. Whether it is rebuilding, repairing, or other schemes. The government must be present," AHY emphasized.
He then said that the government is pushing efforts to carry out reconstruction and rehabilitation, especially since Indonesia frequently deals with natural disasters.
"Indonesia is always facing natural challenges such as disasters that often impact the community and the economy. Therefore, we will work seriously to ensure reconstruction and rehabilitation," he added.
He informed that he is coordinating with Minister of Housing and Settlement, Maruarar Sirait, regarding the eruption. Sirait will soon review the disaster mitigation location.
Earlier, Sirait had assured the housing for the community affected by the Mount Lewotobi eruption would be constructed closer to their work location.
He informed that around 1,100 houses will be built in compliance with verification stages set by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR)/National Land Agency (BPN).
"The new housing provided will use earthquake-resistant housing technology such as the Simple Healthy Instant House (RISHA) panels or Superior Instant Panel System Houses (RUSPIN) technology," he disclosed.
The location of the housing will be determined in collaboration with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and based on recommendations of regional heads, he added.
