Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - East Nusa Tenggara Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and is receiving treatment at Jakarta’s Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Administration Secretary Benediktus Polo Maing stated.

The governor is in good health, Maing noted here on Wednesday.

"Physically, he is alright. There is nothing extraordinary. However, he opts to self-isolate at the hospital," he remarked.

Maing revealed that according to the initial plan, the governor would return to Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara Province, on Wednesday. However, he canceled the plan after the test result came positive for COVID-19.

The governor is believed to have been exposed to COVID-19 during his stay in Jakarta. Before he departed for Jakarta on Friday (January 8), he had tested negative for the virus, he stated.

"The result was negative, so he travelled to Jakarta for official matters," he remarked.
