Kupang (Antara NTT) - Head of Class II Climatology Station Lasiana Kupang Apolinaris Geru reminded the farmers in East Nusa Tenggara not to be reckless to plant, because the rain that happened lately is lokalan.

"We have not entered the rainy season ... the recent rain has been characterized by windblowns that trigger cloud growth to rain," Apolinaris said in a message WhatsApp told Antara in Kupang on Sunday.

He explains the rain that occurs sporadically because of the warm sea surface temperatures, so that more water vapor to the atmosphere to form clouds that then trigger the occurrence of rain.

"We urge the farmers to be alert to the rain of deceit ( false rain)  that occurred at the beginning of the rainy season, because climatologically NTT has not entered the rainy season, "he said.

Because appealed to farmers of rain-fed / dryland / dryland farmland in Timor Island not to take a planting attitude immediately because it would risk planting failure due to dry spell in the coming weeks.

"Do not cultivate because it is not yet enter the rainy season," he imbaunya.

Agricultural Observer of the University of Nusa Cendana (Undana) of Kupang Dr Ir Leta Rafael Levis, M.Rur.Mnt, said the rain that flushed the city of Kupang Monday afternoon was the impact of evaporation and oscillation Madden Julian (OMJ).

OMJ is a wave that occurs in the atmosphere layer in the tropics with a duration of 30-90 days and will move toward the East with an average speed of 5 meters per second.

He said this OMJ usually comes marked by the presence of super-scale clouds moving eastward from the Indian Ocean, because the first land touched by oscillations in Indonesia is Sumatra and then to the East including NTT.
