Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - The East Nusa Tenggara administration will organize a sandalwood horse parade in savanna, located on Sumba Island.
The horse parade would be organized coinciding with a traditional handwoven fabric festival to be held on the same island, July 5-12, 2018, Marius Ardu Jelamu said here, Saturday (9/6).
The two events will be organized in the districts of West Sumba, Southwest Sumba and East Sumba on Sumba Island, which is famous for its savanna scenery. The savanna on Sumba Island is surrounded by beautiful hills, a scenery that can be found only on the island.
The horse parade will promote the exotic savanna expected to be a major tourist destination in East Nusa Tenggara Province. The traditional handwoven fabric festival and the sandalwood horse parade have been included in Indonesia`s calendar of events.
East Nusa Tenggara has also included Dragon Komodo Festival held in West Manggarai District, Tour de Flores international cycling race on Flores Island, and Likurai Festival in Fulan Fehan Hill located in Belu District, Timor Island, in the national calendar of tourism events coordinated by the Tourism Ministry.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya launched the calendar of events in Jakarta on June 6.
