Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, Nov 29 (Antara NTT) - Economist from the University of Widya Mandira (Unwira) Kupang Dr Thomas Ola Langoday said the rush money hoax has no effect on the rupiah value.
Currently the country`s financial system and banking industry are healthy that the hoaxers failed in their attempt to trigger run on bank ahead of planned big rally on Dec. 2, Dr Thomas said.
"Therefore, there is no cause for worries as the run on bank rumors are only a hoax spread by irresponsible people," he said here on Tuesday.
The Indonesian economy was relatively healthy growing by more than 5 percent with inflation under control at around 3 percent when many other country suffer a contraction, he said.
East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) recorded an economic growth of 5.14 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of this year with the electricity and gas sector growing the highest .
The Gross Domestic Product of NTT reached Rp21.98 trillion on the current prices, Rp15.49 trillion on constant price in the third quarter of 2016 .
"Household consumption grew 7.6 percent or the highest in spending," Dr Thomas said.
Quarter to quarter, the economy of NTT grew 5.44 percent in the third quarter of this year.
Year to date , net buy reached US$190 million in the Indonesian Stock Exchange and US$2.1 billion in bond market.
"This is a strong indication that the market confidence in the country`s economy is high," he said.
The oil price in the global market began to pick up followed by commodity prices that would contribute to strengthening the rupiah stability, he said.
