Kupang (Antara NTT) - The Tourism Office of East Nusa Tenggara is developing an android-based tourism promotion system to enable tourists to have easy access to information on the province`s tourist destinations using mobile phones.

"We are creating an android app that facilitates tourists to gain information about all tourist destinations in the province," Head of Tourism Promotion of East Nusa Tenggara`s Tourism Office, Eden Klakik, stated here, Saturday.

Klakik added that the tourism promotion application is being developed in cooperation with Communication College Uyelindo Kupang and will be launched in December 2017.

Klakik explained that the application is an effective platform to facilitate tourists to avail information on tourist destinations in East Nusa Tenggara.

Diverse tourism information will be provided through the application, including that on tourist sites, culinary destinations, souvenir shop locations, and distance from a place to a certain tourist site along with transportation fares, Klakik remarked.

He explained that the application is one of the effective tourism campaigns to promote East Nusa Tenggara as compared to conventional means, such as distributing pamphlets, leaflets, advertisements, and news coverage in mass media.

"Now, we add more IT-based campaigns. We participate in exhibitions," he pointed out.

He added that the Tourism Office has also initiated an international interactive dialogue program through radio broadcasts to promote the province`s tourism to people across the world.

"This international dialogue is conducted directly by the Head of Tourism Office that is connected to tourists in various countries, such as in the US, Chile, Kuwait, Italy, and Brazil, through Radio Verbum in Kupang," he explained.

The dialogue program, being implemented since August 2017, has received a positive response from foreign tourists, and most of them are interested in visiting Indonesia, especially East Nusa Tenggara.
