Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - South Timor Tengah district (TTS) government has developed Oetune Beach tourism to become a leading coastal tourist destination in the local area, Head of Tourism Office of East Nusa Tenggara Province Marius Ardu Jelamu stated.

"The Oetune Beach in TTS now looks interesting. The local government has built a dozen lopo, coastal roads, and entertainment stage," he noted here on Saturday.

Jelamu said he had visited the Oetune Beach several times and lauded the commitment of local governments for developing tourism.

He explained that tourists currently visit Oetune beach daily, especially on the weekends during which it is always crowded with local and foreign visitors.

The natural beauty of the clean, white sandy beach that overlooks the border region with Australia offers an attractive view to tourists.

"Road access from Batu Putih to Oetune Beach is smooth, so tourists from outside the region that enter through Kupang City can easily reach it in about two hours," he stated.

Jelamu further remarked that the local government will also offer culinary tours and build a souvenir center and entertainment stage.

Jelamu opined that other district governments in the island-based province should emulate the development of Oetune Beach tourism.

Jelamu added that tourism has become a leading sector initiated by the central government, so he has invited every local government to continue to develop the wealth of tourist destinations.

Moreover, tourism in NTT is booming, so it will be easier for the local government and people to increase tourist visits, he added.
