Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will intensify tourism promotion activities in Australia, which is a main market for the province`s tourism industry.
"Australia is the main tourism market share of NTT, therefore the country has become our promotion target," Marius Ardu Jelamu, head of the NTT tourism office, said here, Wednesday (18/4).
Australia, which shares a maritime border with NTT, has contributed the largest number of tourists to the province. Several Australian tourists visit NTT by yachts. Because Australia is relatively close from NTT and easily accessible, NTT hopes to attract more tourists from the continent.
During a trilateral meeting held in Labuan Bajo, NTT, recently and participated in by Indonesia, Australia and Timor Leste, the three countries agreed to promote tourism activities.
NTT has planned to organize cultural and art performances in Australia and Timor Leste, as part of tourism promotion activities. The province has also called on Australia to have a direct flight to NTT.
"A marina is now being built in Labuan Bajo and be completed in 2019. Besides, Kupang also plans to construct a marina to enable yachts from Australia to visit NTT," he said.
