Labuan Bajo, NTT (ANTARA) - National Police chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, reviewed the readiness of an operational management center called the Labuan Bajo 91 Command Center set up to secure the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

"We reviewed a number of locations, one of them was the 91 Command Center -- the operational management center for all the (security) activities we carry out," he said here on Wednesday.

From the command center, he inspected the condition of vital locations, such as the airport, the delegates’ accommodation, and summit venues, through surveillance videos.

He also reviewed the readiness of the police officers deployed to secure the summit, which is scheduled to take place in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai district, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province, from May 9–11, 2023.

He said that all activities related to the implementation of the ASEAN Summit will be supervised through the command center.

Furthermore, he informed that the communication devices of all officers would be connected to the command center and they would also report to the center.

"We checked the installed facilities one by one and saw how the command center identifies visitors, both foreign guests and local people," Prabowo said.

He added that his visit was also aimed at ensuring that the command center could provide identities of the people as one of the supervision tools to ensure the smooth implementation of the international event.

In addition, the command center is expected to monitor disaster potential so that mitigation measures can be taken immediately.

"(The command center is hoped to) also ensure that all coming ships can be identified, including the types and owners of each ship,” the national police chief stated.

“All entry routes, including the ones through the seaports, should also be able to be monitored (by the command center)," he added.

He also said that traffic engineering would be implemented a number of times during the summit.

Prabowo noted that it could cause inconvenience to the local community. He apologized for it and said that traffic engineering was necessary to support the smooth implementation of the international event.

"We will continue to review and evaluate the security readiness (ahead of the summit)," he added.
