Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto stated that the government is focusing on logistics and optimally accommodating the evacuees' voting rights through the polling stations (TPS) at the refugee locations.
"There are 37 affected, and 22 of them have relocated to refugee locations. We also recorded the movement of voters from East Flores to Sikka and vice versa," he noted in a statement from his office on Sunday (November 24).
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Praktikno stated that the government continues to monitor services for evacuees.
Praktikno remarked that various forms of aid continue to arrive from related ministries/institutions (K/L) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
In addition, the government is preparing temporary and permanent housing for affected communities.
"Apart from their housing, we are also considering their source of economic life. We will review the location soon," Pratikno remarked.
According to the statement, the government has also prepared polling stations on the border of the two refugee areas to fulfill the residents' voting rights.
Praktikno also emphasized that all displaced residents, both those in centralized locations and those who found shelter independently, will be accommodated. Coordination is being conducted so the technical aspects of voting can be easier.
"Support will still be provided to victims who independently take shelter to exercise their rights to vote," Pratikno emphasized.
The 2024 simultaneous regional elections will be held on November 27.
