Kupang (Antara NTT) - An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale jolted Ende District, central Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on Friday at 2:44 a.m. local time.
The quake`s epicenter was located at 8.23 degree southern latitude and 121.66 degree eastern longitude, some 49 kilometers (km) northwest of Ende, and at a depth of 17 km, Arief Tyastama, head of the Waingapu geophysics office, noted.
The quake, with intensity between II and IV Modified Mercalli Intensity, was felt in almost every area on Flores Island. The quake did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami.
