Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggar (ANTARA) - The analog television broadcasts switch-off will begin in five regions of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which are Kupang city, Kupang district, Timor Tengah Utara district, Belu district, and Malaka district.
"These five regions in NTT are included in the first phase of the national analog television broadcast switch-off, which is no later than April 30, 2022," Special Staff to the Minister of Communication and Informatics, Phillip Gobang, said during a virtual talk show on 'East Nusa Tenggara Ready for Analog Switch Off (ASO)', originating from here on Thursday.
The five regions in NTT are included in the ASO first phase, wherein 166 districts/cities in 56 areas across the country will migrate from analog to digital TV broadcasts, he informed.
Gobang explained that the second phase will happen no later than August 25, 2022 and will be carried out in 31 service areas covering 110 districts and cities, including Timor Tengah Selatan district in NTT.
The final phase of ASO will be enforced no later than November 2, 2022 and will be carried out in 25 service areas covering 65 districts and cities, he added.
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has designed a network of digital television broadcast services throughout the country with reference to the International Telecommunication Union standard as the United Nations agency for telecommunications, Gobang said.
Several factors such as geographical conditions, area width, radiofrequency limitations, and the capability of digital broadcast technology were considered in the NTT final design, which was eventually divided into four service areas, he informed.
According to Gobang, NTT is in the process of merging several signals on a transmission channel (multiplexing) for Metro TV and RCTI TV stations following the multiplexing by TVRI stations.
It will take continuous efforts from all parties to disseminate information about the television broadcast migration in the community, he added.
"There are so many important matters that need to be socialized to the public through understandable language," he said.
