Kupang (Antara NTT) - The El Tari airport of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, won a citation as the 8th best in service among more than 100 airports in the country.

The country has 106 airports operated by state-owned airport companies, PT. Angkasa Pura I and PT. Angkasa Pura II and the Transport Ministry.

Head of the marketing department of PT. Angkasa Pura I at El Tari airport Kadir Usman said the appreciation was presented to El Tari at an Airport Award 2017 Presentation Night held by the Bandara Magazine in Jakarta earlier this week.

"The achievement is significant for the El Tari airport showing that our airport has adopted a high standard in service for airport users," Kadir said here on Friday.

He said before earning a place among 10 best airports in the country, El Tari airport was already committed to improving its services to airport users.

Earlier this year, the airport earned an index of 4.43 in a survey on Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) by the Indonesian National Air Carriers Association (INACA).

Kadir said early next year the airport would be renovated and the passenger terminal would be expanded and there would be more aprons.

Currently the airport has a terminal of 7,546 square meters to be doubled to 15,564 square meters after the renovation. The aprons would be increased in number from 12 to 15 units.
