Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - Lion Air will soon open a new flight route connecting Surabaya in East Java Province with Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, according to Rinus T Zebua, manager of Lion Air Group`s NTT office.
"We will serve a new route connecting Surabaya with Labuan Bajo starting July 8, 2018," he said here, Thursday (21/6). Wings Air will use ATR 72-600 aircraft having a seat capacity of 72, to serve the new route three times a week, on every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.
From Surabaya, the departure will be at Juanda International Airport at 8:30 a.m. local time. From Labuan Bajo, the departure will be at Komodo International Airport at 12:45 a.m. local time. The decision to open the new route is aimed at supporting the government`s development program for better connectivity across the nation.
Besides, the new route is expected to help boost tourism in East Nusa Tenggara as Labuan Bajo known for its Komodo Dragon National Park and located in West Manggarai District, Flores Island, is one of the 10 main tourist destinations designated by the government several years ago. Wings Air on May 26, 2018, opened a Kupang (NTT)-Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara) route.
