"We can speed up the process. (This is) because his new status as a suspect is also our reference for alleged ethical violations," Head of KPK's Dewas, Syamsudin Harris, stated on Thursday.
Harris ensured that the examination process against Bahuri would continue to run in parallel with his investigation process at Polda Metro Jaya.
"We will continue our examination because the examination is different from the one carried out at Polda Metro Jaya. We examine ethical violation, and the police examine the criminal act," he remarked.
On Wednesday (November 22), Polda Metro Jaya named Bahuri as suspect in the alleged extortion case against former agriculture minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
Director of Special Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Ade Safri Simanjuntak, stated that the suspect was named after the examination on Wednesday.
"We found sufficient evidence to determine KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri as a suspect in a case of alleged criminal acts of corruption in the form of extortion or receiving gratuities or receiving gifts or promises by civil servants or state administrators related to his position regarding the handling of legal issues at the Agriculture Ministry during 2020-2023," Simanjutak stated.
Bahuri was named a suspect as intended in Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
