China interested in frozen octopus products from E Nusa Tenggara

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - Head of Fish Quarantine Station and Quality Control (KIPM) Class 1 in Kupang, Jimmy Elwaren, stated that China was interested in frozen octopus commodities from East Nusa Tenggara, with export demand of 15.8 tons in February 2018.

"The frozen octopus commodity is the only fishery product ordered by China, with export reaching around 15.8 tons in February 2018," he stated Antara here on Tuesday.

KIPM of Kupang recorded the commodity export value of frozen octopus, which was exported to China, to be at US$30,419.

He noted that the demand for frozen fish commodity products from China was recorded for the first time in 2018. "China has only demanded one shipment of frozen octopus," he added.

KIPM of Kupang noted that there were no demands for fishery products from China in the last two years (2016-2017).

Meanwhile, China was the only export destination country, which was interested in frozen octopus commodities export in February 2018.

Jimmy further remarked that the other export destination countries were Timor Leste, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan.

The main export commodities include fish anggoli, snapper, tuna loin, and dried fish, of which dried fish had the highest export frequency to Timor Leste. "The overall export value in February stood at Rp84,717,868,000," he revealed.
