Kupang, E. Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - The Kupang Quarantine and Quality Control (KIPM) station said East Nusa Tenggara has exported 22.7 tons of skipjack to Japan in June 2018.
"Exports of skipjack to Japan from the province rose from only 12 tons in May," head of KIPM station of Kupang Jimmy Elwaren said here on Monday (9/7).
The export of skipjack was valued at Rp1.48 billion in June, 2018, Jimmy said, adding that the export was made via Surabaya. He said Japan has been the main buyer of skipjack from East Nusa Tenggara.
"Almost every month there is order for skipjack from Japan and the volume has always larger than orders from other countries," he said.
A data of the KIPM of Kupang showed that exports of skipjacks from East Nusa Tenggara to Japan has reached more than 157 tons in 2017.

In June 2018, Japan was the only buyer of skipjack from East Nusa Tenggara, Jimmy said.
East Nus Tenggara has also exported skipjack to China, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Australia, and Timor Leste.
Jimmy said skipjack has always been among five main export commodities from the province every month.
The province also exports tuna fish, dry fish and other fish products but exports have always been dominated by skipjack, he added.
Last week the Quarantine and Quality Control (SKIPM) of Gorontalo said the province of Gorontalo exported 11.9 tons of tuna fish in the first half of the year.
Head of KIPM station of Gorontalo, Hamzah said the province had recorded an increase in tuna fish exports from year to year.
