Chinese Investors Offered Projects to Build Marina Docking Facilities

Welly Rohimone

The Provincial Tourism Office of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has offered projects to build marina docking facilities to Chinese investors.
Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (Antara NTT) - The Provincial Tourism Office of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has offered projects to build marina docking facilities to Chinese investors.

"We have prepared the plan in several points in NTT and we will make the offer to Chinese investors present at the Investment Forum in Kupang," Secretary of the provincial Tourism Office Welly Rohimone told Antara here on Tuesday.

Tens of Chinese business leaders attending the Investment Forum to be held on Wednesday here, Welly said.
The Investment Forum is organized in cooperation between the regional administration and the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar, Bali.

Wely said there are a number of locations where marina port would be built in the regencies of Alor, Waikerang in Maumere and Ende on the island of Flores.

"The locations would offered to the Chinese investors to build marina docking facilities in cooperation with the NTT administration," he said.

He said the marina ports are needed by the island province to support its tourism development program. "The projects would need large fund. The provincial administration had no fund for the project, and we could not expect much support from the central government," he said.

Realization of the project has been urgent to facilitate tourist boats visiting the province. Large foreign tourist boats could not easily visit NTT because of the problem in landing, he said.

"They have to dock at general cargo ports . They could not stay long as they would hamper the process of loading and unloading," he said.

He said a number of tourist boat operators have complained about the lack of facility in the region. Earlier he said the province would also offer similar projects to Australian investors on December 20.

He said he hope the projects would attract investors to support development of tourism industry in the province.
