Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, Nov 30 (Antara) - The tourism office of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has invited cycling enthusiasts to participate in the Tour de Timor (TdT) 2017.
The organizing committee will present prizes in every stage of the TdT, Eden Kalakik, a local tourism official, said here, Wednesday.
"For the 2017 Tour de Timor, we will invite every Timor Island resident, who loves cycling, to participate," he said.
They are free to decide where they will start, he added.
NTT will organize the second TdT on December 9-12, 2017.
The organizing committee will invite domestic and foreign cyclists from some 30 countries to participate in the TdT.
The event will be divided into four stages: Betun-Atambua covering 70.8 kilometers, Atambua-Kefamenanu reaching 88.3 kilometers, Kefamenanu-Soe spanning 86.2 kilometers, and Soe-Kota Kupang covering 100 kilometers.
The grand start of the TdT will be from Betun, Malaka District, on Dec 9, and the grand finish will be in Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara, on Dec 12.
From Betun, TdT`s participants will head to Atambua, North Timur Tengah, South Timor Tengah, Kupang District, and finally to Kupang City.
The participants on bicycles will cover a total distance of 386 kilometers. In every stage, they will make a stopover and will continue the tour the next day.
The NTT provincial administration is optimistic of attracting more tourists by organizing the annual sports tourism event.
