Kupang (Antara NTT) - An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale jolted West Sumba District, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on Sunday at 11:18 a.m. local time.
The quake`s epicenter was located 9.63 degree southern latitude and 119.55 degree eastern longitude, some 17 km northeast of West Sumba, and at a depth of 25 km, Arief Tyastama, head of the Waingapu geophysics office, said.
Earlier, at 7:42 a.m. local time, a tremor measuring 2.5 on the Richter Scale hit West Sumba. In Malaka District, East Nusa Tenggara, an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale occurred on Sunday at around 5 a.m. local time.
The tremors did not trigger a tsunami. There were no reports of damages in the quakes.
