Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (Antara NTT) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is to officially commission the operation of "a 120 megawatt Marine Vessel Power Plant" in Timor, East Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday.
"The president delayed the commissioning of the ship power plant until afternoon. He flew directly to Atmabua as the weather is not friendly here," Minister of State Enterprises Rini Soemarno told reporter here on Wednesday.
Rini said the president would commission the ship power plant in the afternoon after commissioning a number of development projects in the province.
The marine vessel power plant is leased by state power utility company PLN for five years to supply power for the Indoensian part of the Timor island.
The ship power plant already arrived in Kupang on Dec. 16 and it started operation by phase on Monday this week.
Meanwhile, Rini inspected the steam powered electric station PLTU Bolok here.
"Yes, I inspected the PLTU Bolok to make sure that it operates well and it does, but one of its two engines could not function as the boiler is damaged," she said.
The operator of the power plant has ordered for a new boiler and the machine should be able to resume operation in two monthy, she added.
She said hopefully independent power producers in Bolok could be operational in 2017 to increase power supply in Timor.
The minister is here to accompany President Jokowi in the plan to commission the marine vessel power plant.
