Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - As many as 800 interfaith youngsters of Kupang joined the Easter Victory Parade held by the Youth of Evangelical Church in Timor (GMIT), Kupang City.

Regional Secretary of East Nusa Tenggara, Benediktus Polo Maing, on the occasion stated here on Monday (2/4) that the Easter Victory Parade should be a momentum to reflect on what Jesus Christ had done on the Cross.

"This parade should provide the deepest meaning and a momentum to reflect on what Christ has done," he noted, while giving a speech representing East Nusa Tenggara`s Governor Frans Lebu Raya.

The Easter victory march was not only followed by hundreds of Christian youths but also enlivened by a number of other interfaith youths, including the Mosque Youth, the Hindu Dharma, and the Buddhist Youth.

He remarked that the march, which was attended by some 800 participants from a total of 75 entourages, must give meaning to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who died and rose again on the third day.

"For youngsters, this march is a momentum to improve the quality and renewal of their faith, which has made them present themselves as agents of peace in society," he added.

Maing, who served as the provincial Forest Service Head, also explained that the Paschal Victory March 2018 is also a momentum to strengthen the relationship among religious communities in East Nusa Tenggara.

Moreover, East Nusa Tenggara has been known for a long time as a high-tolerance province.

He further revealed that the Easter Parade could be one of the tourism attractions of Kupang City.

"If there is Semana Santa Procession in East Flores, hopefully, after that in Lanrantuka, tourists will be interested to visit Kupang to see this parade," he added.
