"All preparations have been wrapped up. Currently it needs only the approval of the ESDM and PUPR Ministers to start work," Latif Gau, the spokesman of a Dutch consortium which holds the contract to build the project, said here on Monday.

In early June 2018, at the latest the ground breaking ceremony should take place to mark the start of physical construction of the project, Latif said when speaking about the progress of development of the bridge and a turbine of sea wave power generating plant at the Gonzalu strait in the district of Flores Timur.

"We hope, the first corner stone could be laid not later than in early June, 2018. We also hope that the ESDM Minister and the PUPR Minister would give their official approval this month, that by June the first corner stone could be laid," Latif said.

He said the analysis of the environment impact (Amdal) is expected to be wrapped up soon, adding it is now in the final phase. "That means, there should be no problem for the Dutch consortium to start construction immediately, but we still have to carry out the Amdal," he said.

He said the Dutch Government give full support for the financing of the construction of Palmerah Pancasila bridge project. "As for the financing, the project has full support from the Dutch Government through the Dutch Development Bank (FMO)," Latif Gau said.
