"I hope it will be operational before Christmas," the governor told newsmen after reviewing the vessel here on Wednesday.
Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (Antara NTT) - East Nusa Tenggara Governor Frans Lebu Raya has expressed hope that the Turkish 120MW-capacity Marine Vessel Power Plant will be operational before Christmas.

"I hope it will be operational before Christmas," the governor told newsmen after reviewing the vessel here on Wednesday.

The Marine Vessel Power Plant arrived in East Nusa Tenggara on Dec 16, and the local state electricity company, PLN, is attempting to install its network on the ship, with the hope that it will be operational on Saturday.

Further, the governor said the arrival of the Marine Vessel Power Plant would have a positive impact on the industry in the province, especially in the provincial city of Kupang.

This is because in the future, the local government plans to build cement factory PT. Semen Kupang III and a steel plant that will require a lot of electricity.

He noted that PT. Semen Kupang III will require 30MW of electricity that can be supplied by the Marine Vessel Power Plant.

"I would like to thank President Joko Widodo, who presented the vessel to the people of East Nusa Tenggara," the governor remarked.

According to him, the Marine Vessel Power Plant is a birthday present for the 58th anniversary of East Nusa Tenggara Province.
