Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (Antara NTT) - The Gross Regional Domestic Products (PDRB) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was almost flat based on the current prices in the second quarter of 2017, the provincial office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
By sectors, the highest growth was recorded by the agricultural sector growing 1.42 percent, followed by educational service growing 0.63 percent, and the communications and information sector growing 0.60 percent, according to Maritje Pattiwaellapia, head of the provincial BPS, here, Wednesday.
Therefore, the agricultural sector and the regional administration still dominated the economy of NTT, she added.
Maritje said on the contrary increase was recorded in all sectors of consumption in the second quarter of 2017 compared with the same period last year.
The highest growth was recorded in the consumption of non profit institutions serving households which grew 10.58 percent, followed by spending for change in inventory growing 7.75 percent and gross fixed capital formation growing 7.32 percent, she pointed out.
"The structure of NTT`s PDRB by spending based on current prices showed no significant change in the second quarter of 2017. Demand still dominates spending by households (76.05 percent)," she said.
Around 80 percent of the 5.03 million population of NTT live from the agricultural sector. The farm families are the largest contributors to poverty in the province, which one of the poorest regions in the country.
