Kupang (Antara NTT) - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province will organize the NTT Expo 2017 in Atambua, Belu, to coincide with the Tour de Timor (TdT) annual cycling race.
"The TdT will be held on Dec 9-12, while the NTT Expo will be organized on Dec 7-9," Eden Kalakik, promotion and marketing head of the NTT tourism office, said here, Saturday.
The NTT Expo will showcase the province`s traditional delicacies, handcrafts, music, and woven clothing.
Gala dinners featuring traditional art performances will be organized for the TdT participants at every stopover of the tour. The peak celebration will be held after the grand finish in Kupang.
"For the Tour de Timor, we will seriously promote NTT`s tourism potential, including its nature, culture, and culinary arts," he said.
For the TdT, the local authorities have made preparations for accommodation, security, and activities.
TdT is part of the series of tourism promotion activities that include Tour de Flores and 1001 Horse Parade in Sumba, organized annually by NTT.
The grand start will be from Malaka District on Dec 9, and the grand finish will be in Kupang on Dec 12 after completing four stages.
"The total distance covered will be 386 km, and they will use bicycles. In every stage, they will make a stopover and will continue the tour the next day," he said.
The four stages are Betun-Atambua (70.8 km), Atambua-Kefamenanu (88.3 km), Kefamenanu-Soe (86.2 km), and Soe-Kota Kupang (100 km).
