Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government has set a target of reaching a vaccination rate of 70 percent in each district and city in the province by November 2021.

According to East Nusa Tenggara Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, only Kupang City has surpassed the 70 per cent mark so far while the overall COVID-19 vaccination rate in the province has only reached about 27 per cent from more than three million targeted vaccine recipients.

The NTT Provincial Government encouraged district and city governments to intensify COVID-19 vaccinations to reach the target, he said here Tuesday.

The governor then stressed the importance of intensifying COVID-19 vaccination services in Malacca, Lembata, Sabu Raijua and Rote Ndao, as vaccination coverage in those areas is still very low.

He also explained that in order to accelerate vaccinations in the province, the provincial government is also cooperating with the TNI, the Police and other organizations and institutions in providing vaccination services to the community.

“The provincial government also involves the Navy, the Army and the National Police, including the Real Estate Indonesia and financial institutions, to help provide vaccination services to people on islands and coastal areas, so those in remote areas can get vaccinated too,” Laiskodat said.
