Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (Antara NTT) - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Creative Economy and Tourism Office is supporting the local Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agents (Asita) to develop a special area here to serve as a Flamboyant tourist location.

"The city of Kupang and its surroundings have not had a tourism icon, and thus, we fully support the efforts undertaken by Asita to make the city a Flamboyant tourist area," NTT Tourism Office spokesman Weli Rohimone remarked here on Saturday.

Rohimone made the statement on the sidelines of a Flamboyant tree planting event held by Asita along the Herman Johannes Penfui Street in order to serve as a Flamboyant tourist location for visitors who love flora and foliage.

To increase the aesthetic appeal of the area, Asita has planted over 200 Flamboyant trees along the street as a testament to the sincerity and commitment to transform it into a special Flamboyant tourist site.

Rohimone said the simultaneous planting of Flamboyant trees was conducted on January 7, 2017, to coincide with the 46th anniversary of Asita and to serve as a momentum to boost tourist arrivals in Kupang and East Nusa Tenggara, in general.

According to Rohimone, planting Flamboyant trees along the sides of the Herman Johannes Penfui Street, as one of the charms of the city of Kupang, will offer a positive impetus to the development of tourism in NTT.

Tourism has become a new source of income for NTT to help boost the welfare of all citizens since this area has various tourist attractions.

Hence, this year, the NTT Creative Economy and Tourism Office is prioritizing to increase the number of both domestic and foreign tourist arrivals in the province.
