Australia repatriates fisherman of East Nusa Tenggara

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - The Australian government repatriated one of the fishermen from Indonesia`s East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province named Ephraim Radja, who was arrested by the Australian maritime authorities over charges of illegal fishing.

"Radja has arrived in Bali and will board a Lion Air flight from Denpasar, Bali, to Kupang," Section Head of the Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision Department of the Fisheries and Maritime Office of NTT Province Muhammad Saleh Goro stated here on Tuesday (15/5)..

He noted that five Indonesian fishermen out of the 13 arrested by the Australian security officers on Apr 18 for illegal fishing were repatriated.

Four other fishermen will be repatriated to Sapeken Sub-district, Madura, East Java Province, after an inspection by the Australian government.

The four fishermen are identified as Wahyudi, Heri, Sapari, and Rasyidi Rahman.

Meanwhile, eight other fishermen will be repatriated after undergoing a judicial process in Australia, he added.

"We have not been able to confirm when the eight other people will be repatriated, as they are still undergoing the judicial process," he remarked.
