Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - The Head of Investment and One-stop Services Office of East Flores District, Yohanes Kopong, said that there were five companies interested in investing in various sectors in the area.
"There are five companies from local and abroad that are interested in investing in East Flores. We are now facilitating them to materialize their investment plans," Kopong told Antara via a phone call here on Tuesday (25/9).
He explained that a Chinese company is interested in pearl cultivation, while a local company, PT Kelola Mina Laut, has expressed interested in fish processing.
In the plantation sector, there is a Belgian company interested in investing in vanilla cultivation and building a processing plant.
Meanwhile, a company from New Zealand has been attracted to the tourism sector and is interested in building resorts on Adonara Island.
There is also a domestic company interested in producing industrial and consumption salt in Solor Island.

"The investment processes have been in the technical studies phase," he remarked, adding that the office facilitates the domestic companies for document handling and investment requirements, while licensing documents for foreign companies are handled by the provincial administration and the central government.
Kopong expressed hope that all technical and licensing processes can be completed by 2018, so that all the investment plans can be materialized by 2019 or 2020.
"The investment on salt production, for instance, takes a long time, especially for preparing equipment in the field," he revealed.
He added that to date, there are nine foreign companies and six domestic companies investing in East Flores.
These companies are engaged in fisheries, plantations, and tourism, including hotels and restaurants.
"So far, the total investment value in the district has been recorded at more than Rp309 billion," he noted.
