"Terrorism incidents do not have a significant impact on the flow of tourists here," Head of TN of Komodo Budi Kurniawan stated here on Friday (18/5).
Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (AntaraNews NTT) - Several incidents of terror, such as bombings in Sidoarjo, Surabaya, and Riau, have not significantly affected the flow of tourists to the Komodo National Park, according to the authority of National Park (TN) of Komodo.

"Terrorism incidents do not have a significant impact on the flow of tourists here," Head of TN of Komodo Budi Kurniawan stated here on Friday (18/5).

Some 14 countries have issued travel advisories to its citizens planning to travel to Indonesia, including the European nations, such as England, Poland, France, Ireland, and Switzerland.

In addition, nine other countries have issued a travel advisory: the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, the Philippines, and Brazil.

A travel advisory could discourage foreigners from visiting Indonesia, including TN of Komodo, as a world destination inhabited by the ancient Komodo (varanus komodoensis) species.

However, the flow of tourists to TN of Komodo and Labuan Bajo, the capital of West Manggarai District, is ongoing. "So far, terror incidents have not had a significant impact on the flow of tourists," he asserted.

Kurniawan further remarked that the local government of West Manggarai, along with the local security apparatus, continues to intensify security, especially at arrival points, such as the port and airport.

Moreover, security within the area of Komodo TN remains as usual through regular security patrolling and visitor surveillance, he emphasized.

"Of course, the national government has also increased security. We hope this situation would improve immediately, so that tourist activities in Komodo remain safe," he added.
