Kupang (Antaranews NTT) - PT Sungai Mas Perkasa will build a marine port in the area of Kelapa Lima in this East Nusa Tenggara capital city with an investment of up to Rp600 billion.
"I have issued the principle license for the investor PT. Sungai Mas Perkasa to build a marine port in Kelapa Lima," Kupang Mayor Jefri Riwu Koreh told Antara news agency here on Tuesday.
The marine port will serve to provide mooring facility for yachts or other pleasure boats on their way to tourist destinations in NNT or Timor in particular.
The plan to build the facility was in answer to complaints by a number of operators of pleasure boats that they had difficulty in landing their boats in Kupang.
"We also hope that a tourist boat will come from Darwin to land in Kupang after cruising in the region," Jefri said.
He said he hoped the construction of the marine port would be completed not later than in 2019.
